I wish to begin by saying how humbled I am to be returning home as Pastor of St. Michael Parish. Having grown up in in this community, and visited many times, I believe that the Bishop has entrusted me with a wonderful Family of Faith. I am grateful to Father Dave Walter for the pastoral leadership he has given and we will continue to pray for him as he assumes his new assignment.
As the Family Gathered Here Before the Lord, each Sunday we have the privilege to celebrate the Love of God together in the Eucharist. I hope to make it a special priority in my first few months to get to know you personally. I ask your help, and patience, as I learn names and become acquainted with the various ministries and groups of our parish.
During my time with you, I wish in a special way to affirm the young people who are part of our parish. Through contact and interaction with our parish schools, and through various other opportunities and initiatives that may arise, I hope to continue to help them to know, love and serve the Lord in their own unique way.
I am energized by the opportunities for partnership between our parish and the university apostolate of St John Paul II Centre. I look forward to ways to interweave both in this unique mission of our parish. I am also very committed to the principles that the parish is center of evangelization and discipleship for our Church. I look forward to opportunities to helping continue to make St Michael Parish a place for all to come home to.
Most of all, I wish you to know that you are part of my family now and that I hope in time you will welcome me into yours. I am here for you. I wish to serve you. Please know that every day you will be in my thoughts, prayers and Masses. Please pray for me too.
Together in the Lord’s service,
Father F. Freitas, Pastor
